Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQ

Will my procedure be painful?
Like most cosmetic procedures, a small amount of discomfort can be expected. Some areas (such as the lips) are more painful to treat than others. We have a number of tricks to help make the experience more comfortable. Most procedures are very quick and are tolerated without the use of any numbing agents by the use of facial massagers, ice and squeezy balls if needed. If required however, we do have numbing agents (topical and local) to make the experience more comfortable.

If you are sensitive to pain it may be good to be mindful that certain things such as menstruation, stress and increased caffeine intake can increase your sensitivity to pain. So if you are wanting to get an intensive procedure done on a sensitive area like lip filler, you might want to be mindful to limit caffeine the day of procedure and/or book when you are not menstruating.

Is the treatment safe?
Side effects are generally rare and most are mild and short lived. A very small number of people 1% in 1000 may experience prolonged redness swelling and requiring two to three days of oral cortisone treatment. Side effects are usually minimal and may consist of bruising, swelling, itching, redness. Cold sores may be aggravated if they usually occour in the treatment area. After treatment if you experience any inflammatory or other reactions that last more than one week, you should notify your doctor immediately so that necessary appropriate treatment may be prescribed.

What do I need to know before getting a treatment?
It is best to avoid vigorous physical activity or any large intakes of alcohol for 24 hours as this increases risks of bruising and swelling. Aspirin and vitamin E should not be taken for one week before the treatment. Most clients are able to return to work after treatment. We recommend scheduling an appointment at least one or two weeks prior to the an important event such as a wedding to allow possible bruising and swelling to subside completely.

Botulinum Toxin FAQ

What is Botulinum Toxin A?
Botulinum Toxin A is a natural purified protein extracted from bacteria. It has been used over 20 years to treat the variety of medical treatments such as cerebral palsy facial spasms excessive sweating etc.

How does the antiwrinkle treatment (Botulinum Toxin A) work?
Botulinum Toxin A causes temporary relaxation in any muscle that it is injected into and stops muscles from contracting, leaving the overlapping skin smooth and unwrinkled. When the muscle is injected it will not function whilst the injection is effective (e.g. you will not be able to frown if the muscle involved is frowning is injected) but this will revert back to normal as the treatment wears off.

How long will my antiwinkle treatment take to start working?
Botulinum Toxin A starts to work on the muscles two to three days after injection and reaches its full effect within 7 to 14 days.

How long will my antiwinkle treatment last?
The effect of Botulinum toxin A will likely last three to four months depending on the individual. The effect will wear off progressively and will need to be repeated to maintain results, we recommend two to three times a year for maintenance. Repeated injections will have a cumulative effect extending the time each treatment remains effective.

Where can Botulinum toxin A be used?
Most common treatment area is between the brows, around the eyes and the forehead. Botulinum toxin A can also be used to give a brow lift, soften smokers lines, treat nose wrinkles, and treat chin dimpling. We can also treat other concerns such as excessive perspiration, jaw reshaping and teeth grinding. It is not suitable for wrinkles which are obvious when the facial muscles are at rest (deep/etched lines) and in this case we would recommend a comprehensive personalised consultation to address your concerns.

Are there any side effects of Botulinum toxin A?
Side effects and complications are usually minimal and there have been very few reports of resistance developing. A more common side effect of Botulinum toxin A is minor temporary bruising at the site of injection, which can be reduced by being well hydrated and avoiding caffeine and alcohol 24 hours before treatment. Less common side effects include the leakage of a small quantity of botulinum toxin into an adjacent muscle possibly resulting in temporary drooping of the eyelids or eyebrow, slight weakness of the eye muscles or asymmetry at the treated area. This is purely a temporary effect and wear off over the next few weeks. Approximately 1% of people experience mild headaches in the days immediately following treatment. If you have any concerns after your treatment please contact the clinic.

Dermal Filler FAQ

What is a dermal filler?
We use dermal fillers which consist of a non-animal stabilised hyaluronic acid. This is a complex chain which strongly binds to water and is naturally found in the human skin. We use it to create volume in the upper layers of the skin, for the treatment of facial folds, lines, wrinkles, depressed scars and to enhance the shape of the lips.

How long will the filler last?
The duration of the effect varies from client to client and depends on the treated area. The treatment can last between 3 and 12 months or longer depending on the area, product and quantity used.

What will it look like after treatment?
For most clients the final results won’t show until 4-6 weeks after treatment. This gives time for the product to integrate into the treatment area, and any swelling or bruising to completely subside. If further treatment is required it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks post-treatment.

What should I expect in the first 24-48 hours after treatment?
Immediately after treatment you may notice some puffiness/swelling and lasting for up to 48 hours, particularly if the lip area has been treated. It is usually mild and only noticeable to the client or friends who know them well. Some areas may swell unevenly, but this does not usually affect the final treatment outcome, and can vary between clients. Bruising at the site of injection is possible and usually clears completely in one week. Mineral makeup can be worn after treatment to cover any redness.

Sunekos FAQ

What is Sunekos?
Sunekos is an injectable treatment that combines hyaluronic acid with a unique cocktail of amino acids. It’s designed to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for maintaining the skin’s elasticity and firmness. It’s considered a non-surgical alternative to Botox and fillers, aiming to naturally repair and mend the skin without altering its shape. Sunekos is particularly effective for addressing concerns like aging, dryness, sun damage, acne scarring, wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of skin tone.

How is Sunekos different to Dermal filler?
Despite having HA in it (the main ingredient in most Dermal Fillers), It is entirely different to general filler. It is not cross linked so has the consistency of water instead of a gel. It does not fill or add volume like filler does. Instead Sunekos corrects and protects the dermis from signs of ageing as it stimulates the fibroblast to produce new collagen and elastin, regenerating your skin from within.

Skin ageing is complex and is the result of an intrinsic decline in cellular function (due to age and genetics) coupled with the exposure of various harmful external factors. Both types of ageing modify the structure of the extracellular matrix (ECM) by acting on quality and composition of its proteins: collagen elastin and hydration. So as we age, we produce less of these important proteins and we start to notice fine lines and wrinkles, dehydration, skin texture changes and loss of elasticity.

What areas can be treated?
This treatment can be used on various parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, knees, and inner thighs.

How long will the treatment take?
The treatment time will depend on the particular area being treated. Your practitioner will be able to provide you with an approximate treatment time at the consultation stage.

Will it hurt?
Sunekos is a non-invasive medical treatment consisting of a series of multiple injections that are relatively painless. Topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to treatment if required.

When can I resume normal activities?
The treatment usually last 15 to 20 minutes and at the end you can immediately resume to normal activities. Lumps and bumps may be noticeable for up to five hours.

How many treatments do I need?
It is recommended to have a series of three treatments, 14 days apart, to achieve optimal results. However, changes will be visible after the first treatment session.

Is Sunekos safe?
Sunekos has a favourable safety profile and is made from hydronic acid and amino acids, which are substances already present in the human body, and over time they naturally reabsorbed.

When will I see the results?
You will start to see results as early as 7 to 10 days after treatment which is which will improve overtime and become more noticeable around four to six weeks.

Microneedling FAQ

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling treatment, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves the use of a handheld device with tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing response, triggering the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. Microneedling is a versatile procedure that can address various skin concerns, including acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. The tiny punctures created during the treatment also enhance the absorption of topical skincare products, maximizing their effectiveness. Depending on the depth of the needles used, microneedling can be performed at different levels, ranging from superficial to deeper penetration, tailored to individual skin needs. This minimally invasive procedure typically requires little downtime, with mild redness and swelling subsiding within a few days, and it can lead to noticeable improvements in skin tone and texture over time, making microneedling a popular option for achieving smoother, rejuvenated skin.

Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening FAQ

What is Plasma Fibroblast Skin Tightening?
Plasma fibroblast treatment is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure aimed at tightening and rejuvenating the skin. It utilizes The ACCOR® Cosmetic Corrector that emits a controlled arc of plasma energy to target specific areas of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin fibers. The plasma energy heats the skin’s surface, causing it to contract and tighten, while also promoting cellular regeneration.

What areas can be treated?
Plasma fibroblast treatment is highly effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and even scars. Unlike traditional surgical methods, this minimally invasive procedure requires minimal downtime and produces natural-looking results. Over time, as collagen continues to rebuild, clients can experience further improvements in skin tone and texture. Plasma fibroblast treatment offers a safe and efficient solution for achieving firmer, more youthful-looking skin, without the need for surgery. Common treatment areas include upper eyelids and under eyes, full face treatments, nasal labial fold, jawline treatment, forehead skin tags, and benign lesion/mole removal.

What should I expect immediately after treatment?
The procedure delivers controlled micro-injuries to the skin’s surface. This creates tiny dots on the treated area. These dots may last up to a week. Common immediate effects may be redness, swelling and warm sensation to the treated area. These are common and typically subside within a few hours but up to a few days.  Most patients look puffy immediately afterwards, particularly if the lip and eye area has been treated. After a few days crusting and scabbing of the tiny dots that the plasma devise will occur. This is a natural part of the healing process as the skin repairs itself. It’s important not to pick at or scratch the scabs to avoid scarring. As the skin heals, it may undergo a peeling process similar to that seen with sunburn. This is normal and should subside within a week or two.

    When will I see results?

Some patients may notice an immediate improvement in the tightness and firmness of their skin, although full results typically develop gradually over several weeks as collagen production increases. The primary goal of plasma fibroblast therapy is to stimulate collagen production, which helps to improve skin elasticity and firmness over time. Patients may notice continued improvements in skin texture and tone for several months following the procedure. As collagen levels increase, wrinkles and fine lines may become less noticeable, resulting in a smoother and more youthful appearance. Over time, patients can expect to see overall improvement in the appearance of their skin, including reduced pigmentation irregularities, improved texture, and enhanced radiance.

It’s important to note that individual results may vary, and multiple treatment sessions may be required to achieve the desired outcome. Additionally, proper post-procedure care, including keeping the treated area clean and protected from sun exposure, is essential for optimal results and minimizing the risk of complications.
